Computer Based Testing Comes to CLEP and TROY - Dothan!
Troy University Dothan's Testing Center is proud to be one of
the first institutions in Alabama to offer computer-based CLEP testing. Troy University-Dothan is an open test center for the CLEP
program and all of the exams offered by the CLEP program can be taken by anyone.
Students may send their scores to any institution that accepts CLEP credit. A student must wait six months before retaking an exam.
It is the responsibility of the student to verify their school's acceptance of the exam before registering to take it.
The following restrictions apply to Troy University Dothan
Campus students only:
Credit will only be given for the exams listed in the "table of exams accepted" (click on link to go to table) or in the handout available at the Test Center. Students
must take the exams and Troy-Dothan must receive their scores before the intent to graduate is filed. You may not earn credit on any exam if
traditional credit has been earned in a more advanced course in the same field.
This restriction would apply whether the course is passed, failed, dropped or
withdrawn. Furthermore, students who attempt coursework, whether pass,
fail, withdraw, or audit, may not take
the CLEP exam in that area for credit.
Description of the Exams:
CLEP computer-based exams are composed of multiple-choice questions. The total time allowed is 90 minutes. There are no scheduled rest breaks. Exams requiring calculator use have a calculator in the computer program itself.
After you take the exam, your instant unofficial score report is provided to you right away. The only exception to instant scoring is the English Composition with Essay. Scoring of the essay takes place once a month and scores are sent within two weeks of scoring.
For more detailed information about the exams and their content areas, please visit the College Board web site at Welcome to CLEP. In addition to the CLEP study guide (Study Guide), CLEP now offers individual exam study guides that can be downloaded from the net for a fee for each Individual Study guide.
You might want to download the CLEP Sampler program from the CLEP website, http://www.collegeboard.com/clep/. It will allow you to practice the computer-based testing process before taking the exam in the test center. Note: This is a very large file. If you order the CLEP study guide from the College Board, it will include a Sampler.
