Technology Use Policy

Information Services Technology Usage Policy

PERSONAL LAPTOP USE

Faculty and students are welcome to bring their laptop to use in the University library. Wireless access is available in the following locations:

Library/Technology building and the Deli
Limited wireless available in Adams and Malone Hall

OFF CAMPUS (REMOTE) ACCESS

The library catalog and databases are available from any Internet connection. To gain access, you must have a USER NAME and ID

E-mail can be accessed at https://mail.troy.edu

COMPUTER LABS

Computer labs are available on campus to assist students with accessing the Internet and using many desktop applications.  The applications include:

Windows XP
Front Page 2003
MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Project, Publisher)
MS Visio 2003
MS Visual Studio
SPSS Version 13.0

Saving your work
You can save your work and take it with you by using a 3 ½ inch floppy disk OR a flash drive (Recommend a USB 2.0 version)  
To save your document to one of the above storage devices:

Click on FILE; click on SAVE AS.

Click on the drop-down arrow next to the "File In:" box and chose either the "3 ½ floppy (A:)" OR if you are using a flash drive, chose "Removable disk (E:)"

Do NOT save your documents to the computer's hard drive (C:)

Printing policy

No charge for printing.  Please limit printing to enrolled courses and coursework
