MISSION
TROY University Dothan's Department of English and Humanities is committed to playing a vital role in the University's general studies program.
The English and Humanities Department offers its students a focused, in-depth study of writing, rhetoric, literature, research, and critical analysis.
The English major with a teaching emphasis at TROY-Dothan has a balanced approach to literature, language, and writing. The Language Arts program provides additional training in journalism, speech and theatre, thereby equipping future teachers with a broad range of specialized study.
Graduates of any of the English and Humanities Department's programs will be prepared to continue advanced, graduate-level study or to enter the teaching profession. Further, the bachelor's program will provide an appropriate background for work in additional areas such as law, theology, philosophy, medicine (with science and mathematics preparation), library science, communications, and media.
