SAEA announces Annual Spring Conference
April 4-6, 2008
Perdido Beach Resort

*Hotel and conference reservations should be made no later than March 5, 2008. After this date reservations will be made on a space available basis only and the same rates cannot be guaranteed. Each chapter will be responsible for its own reservations. When calling, please indicate that you are with Student Alabama Education Association.
The conference will host a dinner Friday night followed by a “Meet the Candidates Social,” where members can meet the candidates running for SAEA office.
The professional development workshops begin on Saturday and include the following sessions: New Teacher Panel for Elementary, New Teacher Panel for Secondary, Ethics and Professionalism in Education, Interviewing Effectively, Getting Parents Involved, Creative Bulletin Boards, Collaborative Teaching in Elementary, Collaborative Teaching in Secondary, HIN Network, and Why Politics is Important to Educators.
In addition to the professional development workshops, chapters will have opportunities to receive awards in the following categories: Highest Membership Increase; Highest Membership Percentage Increase; Highest Participation (Spring Conference); Outstanding Chapter Advisor and Outstanding Chapter. The Outstanding Chapter Award is given to the winner of the scrapbook contest. The scrapbook should depict activities in which the chapter has participated or has initiated.
The state officers, delegates and alternate delegates to the AEA Delegate Assembly for 2008-09 will be elected at this meeting. Candidates will be given two minutes for speeches during the conference opening session on Friday night. Nomination forms can be downloaded at the AEA Web site at www.myaea.org on the Students page. All nomination forms must be faxed to 334-263-5913 or mailed to Sandra Jackson, Student Programs Director, P.O. Box 4177, Montgomery, Alabama 36103.
The deadline for nominations is March 5, 2008.
The closing session on Sunday will include the installation of new officers and the awards presentation.
Students must be members of SAEA to participate or pay a $100 registration fee that will cover cost of conference materials and meals provided by the Association.
