Examples of Professional Laboratory Experiences

School Related Activities The school activities will be arranged through classes you take. You will be assigned specific activities as a part of the courses you take.

Community Activities You will be responsible for earning these hours through activities you select to volunteer your time and services. Opportunities do exist in campus organizations to earn hours in this category. Hours cannot be earned as a part of your employment.

NOTE: You must earn hours in at least two different activities.

The activities are volunteer activities; you cannot be paid for participating in them.

  • Judging contests
  • Scouting activities
  • Life guarding
  • Teaching Sunday School or leading a church youth group
    • (No more than half can be church-related activities.)
  • Summer camps
  • Playground recreational activities
  • Working with speech and drama activities
  • Playing piano for a group of senior citizens
  • Working with arts and crafts activities
  • Helping with community activities
  • Working on an election campaign
  • Assisting with a Red Cross Blood Drive

Professional Activities

  • Attending professional meetings.
  • Membership/participation in professional organizations;
    • Wiregrass Reading Association
    • Kappa Delta Pi
    • Gamma Beta Phi
    • Alabama Association for Young Children (AAYC)
    • Student Alabama Education Association (SAEA)
    • Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)
    • Professional and/or Continuing Education Workshops
  • Working with a TROY-Dothan professor on a research project
  • (Continuing Education Workshops that are taken for undergraduate credit hours cannot be counted as professional hours.
