Box 8368, Dothan, AL 36304.  If registering online or by fax, full payment is expected within five days. To register by fax, send to 334-983-0009.  Once a Continuing Education class begins, refunds are not issued. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR AN ALABAMA REAL ESTATE LICENSE:

  • Be 19 or more years of age.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Not have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.
  • Take and pass a 60 hours pre-license course.
  • Pass state exam with a minimum score of 70%. State exam must be taken within 12 months of successful completion of Introduction to Real Estate course.

BUS001 Introduction to Real Estate

Tue/Thu, June 10 - July 31, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

In order to sell real estate in the State of Alabama, one must complete a 60 hour course that is approved by the Alabama Real Estate Commission. The introduction course will meet those requirements as well as give individuals knowledge of real estate to handle their own properties. Books are to be purchased separately at the campus bookstore for an approximate cost of $90.  Prior to the first night of class, students need to read the first three chapters of the text.

BUS082 Real Estate Post License
Course fee:  $185

Tue/Thu, April 15 - May 13, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

An individual with a temporary real estate license must complete this 30 hour course within six months of receiving a temporary license. Students must present their temporary license to the instructor the first night of class.

    Wednesday, June 11.

    Learn to identify cardiovascular disease and the risk factors. Students will distinguish three classes of lipids in the body and in foods. Receive review of recent clinical trials. Understand how trans fats raise LDL or "bad" cholesterol levels. Learn the food sources of trans fat and recognize foods that are needed to achieve and maintain low cholesterol, saturated and trans fatty acid levels. Discuss labeling regulations on trans fatty acids.

     

  • A HEALTHY WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT: STEP BY STEP NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING FOR

    OBESE/OVERWEIGHT INDIVIDUALS  

    Wednesday, July 16.

    Discover reasons for being overweight and to estimate calories needed for desirable body weight. This seminar will present role of fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals in diets.  Learn where those hidden calories are! Build your skills and confidence for those high risk situations that trigger over eating. Develop skills for planning healthy meals, shopping for food, reading food labels and dealing with relapse.

     

  • DIETARY INTERVENTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE PREVENTION OF OBESITY AND HEART DISEASE

    Ideal for RN's and nurse practitioners.  The seminar will include practical treatment strategies of viscous fiber in the prevention of heart disease and how to implement diet and lifestyle recommendations.  A review of the Mediterranean diet and other health claims on cardiovascular disease.

Receive overviews of biological, medical and social research behind cancer prevention, how to control weight and increase physical activity.  Learn ways cancer starts and spreads and common concerns about diet and exercise in relation to different cancers.

  • NUTRITION PLAN FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES: PRACTICAL MEAL-PLANNING OPTIONS

Wednesday, September 10.

Discover the basic facts of diabetes, the disease process and complications.  The class will discuss the warning signs and symptoms of Type I and Type II diabetes.  Learn how to count carbohydrates and practical meal-planning options.  Help patients select a flexible meal plan that is low in total fat and how to handle problems of diabetes relation complications and the importance of proper foot care.

  • UNDERSTANDING BIOCHEMICAL NATURE OF STRESS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

THROUGH QUANTUM HEALING

Wednesday, September 24.

Discussion of a clear understanding of stress and the importance of controlling it; the difference between stress reduction and stress management.  Learn skills for self-care techniques for a happier, healthier, more balanced life.
