Academic Transcripts

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are issued from the Records Office, 119 Malone Hall, and require a 24-hour notice before processing.  Official transcripts are printed on authentic Script Safe paper and include an embossed University seal and the Registrar's signature. Official transcripts are considered "official" only when they are issued directly to the receiving party through mail delivery or through personal delivery in a University sealed envelope.  Note:  An official transcript issued directly to the student in a sealed envelope will be stamped "Issued to Student."

Requests for transcripts may be submitted to the Records Office in person, through regular mail, or faxed to (334) 556-1040.  Mailed requests should be sent to:

Unofficial Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts, which must be picked up in the Records Office, are available at a cost of $.25 per page and require a 24-hour processing notice.  An unofficial transcript is printed on plain paper and does not have the University seal and/or the Registrar's signature. Unofficial transcripts must also be requested in writing, by Fax, mail, e-mail or in person. Requests by e-mail must be signed electronically.

Faxed Transcripts

TROY University at Dothan discourages the faxing of transcripts; however, in emergency situations, an unofficial transcript may be faxed at the cost of $1.00 per page excluding the cover sheet. To request that a transcript be faxed, students must submit a Transcript Request/ Release of Liability statement, and a valid MasterCard, Visa, or Discover card number and card expiration date. Please include a copy of your driver's license or other form of photo I.D.

FAQ's

Q:  What is the difference between an official and unofficial transcript?

A:  An official transcript is printed on authentic Script Safe paper and includes an embossed University seal and the Registrar's signature. Official transcripts are considered "official" only when they are issued directly to the receiving party through mail delivery or in a University sealed envelope. Note:  An official transcript issued directly to the student in a sealed envelope will be stamped "Issued to Student."
An unofficial transcript is printed on plain paper and does not have the University seal and/or the Registrar's signature.

Q:  Will my transcript have my overall GPA?

A:  No. Your TROY-Dothan transcript will have an overall GPA only for coursework taken at TROY-Dothan.  Grades from other institutions are not reflected on the TROY-Dothan transcript GPA.

Q:  Will my TROY-Dothan transcript show coursework taken at other colleges?

A:  No.  Only transfer hour totals from other institutions are shown on the TROY-Dothan transcript.

Q:  If I have attended other TROY campuses, do I have to submit more than one request?

A:  Yes.  For transcripts of coursework taken at TROY-Dothan/Ft. Rucker or TROY-Montgomery, one must submit requests directly to the appropriate Records Office in Dothan or Montgomery.  To request transcripts of coursework taken on the TROY-Troy campus or at any of the various University College locations, one must submit requests to the Troy Records Office.

Q:  Can I get copies of my transcripts from other colleges or universities from TROY-Dothan?

A:  Except for internal advisement purposes, it is the policy of TROY-Dothan not to issue copies of student academic transcripts from other colleges or universities.

Q:  Will you fax my transcript?

Q:  How do I figure my overall GPA?

A:  Add up the quality points earned for each graded course from every college attended.  Then divide this sum by the total number of hours attempted.  The resulting figure is the overall GPA.

Q:  How quickly can my transcript be sent?

A:  There is a 24-hour turnaround on transcript requests; however students have options for getting transcripts to their destinations quicker.  Transcripts can be sent Priority Mail (2-3 day delivery) for $4.05 (or current rate) or by Express Mail for a fee of $14.40 (or current rate).  Transcript requests for Express Mail must be received by 12:00 Noon in order to be processed that day.
