Intent to Graduate

Intent to Graduate form is the official notice to the Registrar's Office that a student plans to complete his/her degree requirements within a specified term. Business and Arts & Sciences students must file this form a full term prior to the graduation term; because of Internship, it is RECOMMENDED that education students file their Intent to Graduate at least two terms prior to their expected completion term. Strict deadlines have been established for filing the Intent to Graduate. Please refer to the University Calendar (http://dothan.troy.edu/Calendar.html) for exact deadline dates.

Procedures for Filing an Intent to Graduate

  • Intent to Graduate for Undergraduate and Graduate are available online ONLY. Please use the following link to access the form for online submission. Intent to Graduate Form

  • The $60.00 Intent to Graduate fee will be applied to your student account within three working days after you complete the form. Processing of the form will not proceed until you pay the intent to graduate fee. In order to access your account, please log into Trojan Web Express

  • Information provided through the online Intent to Graduate form will be used for printing your diploma and inclusion in commencement program if applicable.
  • Questions concerning the Intent to Graduate form may be addressed by contacting your local records office or calling the contact center at 1-800-414-5756.

Processing the Intent to Graduate Form
The student's academic file is audited to determine which degree requirements have been met and which ones are still incomplete. Once the academic audit is complete, the student receives a final clearance letter which will include Final Evaluation with any remaining requirements needed. Remaining requirements are courses pending completion for your graduation. These courses will be indicated with an (IP) In Progress, (PR) Preregistered, Course Needed or Credits Needed. Depending on what term you have filed for, this process usually takes at least 2 weeks.

FAQ's

Q:  What if I miss the deadline for filing my Intent to Graduate form for the term I wish to graduate?
A:  If you fail to meet the deadline for filing your Intent to Graduate for a specific term, you must file to graduate the following semester.  Deadlines for filing an Intent to Graduate are published in the Schedule of Classes each term.

Q:  If I file an Intent to Graduate form and pay the $60 fee but I do not complete my degree requirements for the term specified, what must I do?

A:  You must file another Intent to Graduate form and pay the $60 fee again.

Q:  What if I have questions regarding the requirements listed on my final clearance evaluation?

A:  Undergraduate students should contact the Dothan Campus Registrar at 334-983-6556, EXT 1333; Graduate students should contact the Director of Graduate Admissions and Records at 334-983-6556, EXT 1230.

Q: What if I want my diploma to be issued in another name besides the one on my official record?

A:  Before you file an Intent to Graduate form, you must officially change your name with the Records Office and provide legal documentation that this “new” name is now your legal name.

Q:   What if I change my phone number and/or address after filing an Intent to Graduate form?

A:    Notify the Dothan Records Office immediately at 334-983-6556, EXT 1-333.

Q:  How will I know what to do regarding participation in the commencement ceremony?

A:  You will be contacted through your Trojan e-mail account regarding all information for participating in the commencement ceremony; therefore, it’s imperative that you keep your Trojan e-mail account current and operable so that you can receive important updates in a timely manner.

Q:  What if I am unsure of the degree I am getting?

A:  Contact the Records Office at 334-983-6556, EXT 1-333 for the correct information.
