Academic Evaluations
An academic evaluation is an undergraduate academic program of study that lists coursework requirements for a particular degree in specified major and minor areas. As a part of the admission process, the Record Office prepares an evaluation for each new student who declares a major and is fully admitted to the University. Evaluations are considered valid only when they are prepared from official transcripts submitted as documentation for admission to the University.
Coursework transferred from another college or university is evaluated to determine TROY-Dothan Campus equivalency and applied appropriately on the evaluation. Strict adherence to this academic plan is essential for successful and expedient degree completion. It is the student's responsibility to keep the evaluation properly updated.
If a student decides to change majors, he/she may request a new evaluation. A Request for a New Evaluation form must be submitted to the Records Office each time a change of major is requested.
Note: Although every effort is made to insure complete accuracy in the preparation of an evaluation, errors can occur. Any student who feels that there are discrepancies on his/her evaluation should contact the Records Office immediately for clarification or correction.
FAQ's
Q: If I think that a course which was recorded as a free elective is actually an equivalent TROY-Dothan Campus course needed to meet degree requirements, what should I do?
A: First contact the Records Office to discuss course applicability. If a determination cannot be made from the transcript alone, a course description and/or syllabus may be required for evaluation. Once this additional information is secured, it is referred to the appropriate dean or department head for evaluation and applicability. If the course is determined to be an appropriate equivalency for a needed TROY-Dothan course, the credit will be added to your evaluation and a copy of the revised document will be sent to you.
Q: I received my evaluation, but I still have questions. What should I do?
A: Contact the Records Office for clarification.
Q: How will my advisor know what courses I have credit for and which ones I still lack?
A: An evaluation can be sent to the appropriate department for advisement purposes. Your advisor will use the departmental copy to advise you. Your evaluation is updated automatically.
