Florence, his wife Irene, and brother, Ellis are buried at nearby Holmes Baptist Church. Some of the family is buried at the Carr Family Cemetery located on land owned by the Ketcham family in Elamville. These papers include mention of several family members including George Washington (or G.W.) Carr, Thomas H. (also known as T.H.) Carr, Mrs. Leola Carr, and Edward Ketcham as well as sharecroppers like Joe Johnston, Ammie Jackson, Tullis Lunsford, Johnnie Capel, Bennie Reese and others.
Scope / Content Note: Collection documents the Carr Family’s interaction with New Deal agencies like the Agricultural Adjustment Administration; land and mortgage records, tax records and receipts for property taxes, district school taxes and poll taxes. This collection also includes one personal letter from a relative working in San Francisco during World War II.
