Biographical Sketch:

Harold Wiggins, a resident of Dothan, AL, was born in 1922.  He has enjoyed a long career as an international sales representative with Hairston Corporation, local manufacturer of wheels for tricycles, children's wagons, etc.  He served in World War 2 as a pilot.  He continued to fly after the war and is an accomplished photographer who is also an avid proponent of the history of aviation in the Wiregrass.

 Mr. Wiggins father, W. C. Wiggins, served in the American Expeditionary Force in World War I as a member of the Air Corps.

Scope / Content Note:

Accession 03-003 consists of 11 prints from Mr. Wiggins's extensive collection of aviation and aerial photographs.  Four are aerial views of the Dothan airport and Dothan Country Club, two are military aircraft, one is an experimental amphibian aircraft, and four are of Eastern Air Lines craft and facilities.

[Cut Line on Reverse of Print Reads:]  "#29823 A.C. - Jet Fighter.    Seen on the Ground is the U.S. Army Air Forces' new P-80 Shooting Star.  The Plane is powered by a new jet propulsion gas turbine engine and is capable of speeds in excess of 550 miles per hour.   The Service Ceiling is above 40,000 Feet.   Credit U.S. Army Air Forces Photo Wash.D.C."
