DOTHAN – Hear the Troy University Community Band of Dothan in concert Monday, April 28 at the Chipley High School gymnasium. Music lovers of all ages are invited to attend the free event, which begins at 7 p.m.

The band, which is made up of approximately 60 musicians ranging in age from 13 to 75, will play marches, concert pieces and a song from the movie, “The Mask of Zorro.” Allan Williams, band director at Roulac Middle School in Chipley, and Richard Davenport, band director at Chipley High School, will each guest conduct a selection during the program.

The concert will be Tony Whetstone’s last as conductor of the Troy University Community Band of Dothan. Whetstone, who led the band from 1990 to 2005 and again from 2006 to the present, will pass the baton to Larry Smith, who will conduct the final song of the evening. Smith is band director at Slocomb High School. He has 23 years of experience as a band director.
