Velma Tribue to Speak at Troy University Commencement Exercises in Dothan
Velma Tribue
Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Velma Tribue is the keynote speaker at Troy University commencement exercises in Dothan on December 16.

DOTHAN – Velma Tribue, chairman of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, will deliver the keynote address to Troy University’s newest graduates during commencement exercises Sunday, December 16 in Dothan. TROY will confer degrees on more than 260 students during the 3 p.m. ceremony at the Dothan Civic Center.

An agent with Velma J. Tribue State Farm Insurance in Dothan, Tribue assumed the top spot on the Chamber Board of Directors in October. She holds a master’s degree in social work; and during her tenure as chair, she has made education her top priority.

Active in a variety of other community organizations, Tribue is a member of the Board of Directors for the Wiregrass United Way and part of Leadership Alabama Class XVI. She sits on the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission Revolving Loan Administration Board and is part of the Dothan Envision Steering Committee and the P-16+ Education Task Force. Tribue is actively affiliated with the Houston County Industrial Development Authority and the Wiregrass Region Health Committee.

In the past, she has served on the board of directors of the Wiregrass Museum of Art, House of Ruth, Houston-Love Memorial Library, Hawk-Houston Boys Club, Southeast Alabama Medical Center Women’s Advisory Council and Girls Club Incorporated. 

Tribue currently volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at First Missionary Baptist Church. She is married to Donald Tribue.
