TROY—Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., chancellor of Troy University,
announced today that Vice Chancellors have been chosen to lead the
University’s campuses in Dothan and Montgomery.
Dr. Don Jeffrey, interim dean of the College
of Arts and Sciences and former dean of the College of Health and Human
Services, has been named Campus Vice Chancellor for Dothan. Ray White,
interim campus vice chancellor in Montgomery, will lead the Montgomery
Campus.
“Don Jeffrey and Ray White are two
outstanding gentlemen who will provide excellent leadership for their
campuses,” Dr. Hawkins said. “Our extensive search process revealed that
we already had the right people for the jobs on our administrative
team.”
Both men are Troy University graduates
and veterans of the U.S. military. The Dothan and Montgomery Campuses
primarily serve adult learners and service personnel from Fort Rucker
and Maxwell Air Force Base. The Campus Vice Chancellors report to Dr. Ed
Roach, executive vice chancellor and provost.
“Given the special nature of these two
campuses, we believed it was important to appoint administrators who
fully understand our missions in Dothan and Montgomery,” Dr. Roach said.
“It was a bonus that both men are familiar with these communities.”
Dr. Jeffrey began his collegiate career
at Wallace Community College in 1970 and said taking the Dothan Campus
position is a homecoming for him.
“As I look back over my career, I must
give Dothan and the Wiregrass area credit for so many great things that
have happened in my life,” Dr. Jeffrey said. “I look at the new position
as an opportunity for me to try to give back to this area for all it has
meant to me over the years.”
White, a resident of Elmore County for
almost 24 years, served as commandant of the United States Air Force
Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Maxwell Air Force Base from
1990-94. He joined the Montgomery Campus in 1994 and served as vice
president for Administration and Financial Affairs from 1997-2005.
“I truly enjoy the teamwork and
family-like culture throughout Troy University and look forward to many
more years of challenging and rewarding opportunities to serve our
fantastic students, faculty and staff,” White said.
