DOTHAN – The Troy University Wiregrass Alumni
Chapter has been recognized for its service to the community and the University.
During the recent Alumni Spring Reunion held on the Troy Campus, the University
honored the alumni chapter with two awards.
The Wiregrass Alumni Chapter serves TROY
graduates in the Alabama counties of Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston;
Georgia counties of Early and Seminole; and Florida counties of Jackson
and Holmes. On behalf of the group, Shannon Collins and Gayla White
accepted the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for community service,
scholarships and recruitment of new students.
The association also received the award
for Most Scholarships Given by a Chapter. Last year, the alumni
organization presented approximately $18,000 in financial assistance to
students attending the Dothan and Troy Campuses. Funds for the
scholarships were raised through the annual Troy University Wiregrass
Alumni Association Jackson Thornton Invitational Golf Tournament
presented by CenturyTel, the ScreenTech Wiregrass Baseball Classic and
various other events.
