Forrest S. Latta, a Mobile attorney
and a member of the Troy University
Board of Trustees, will be the
keynote speaker at Troy University’s
Spring 2006 Commencement Exercises
in Dothan. The May 7 ceremony begins
at 2 p.m. at the Dothan Civic
Center.
Governor Bob
Riley appointed Latta to the
University’s Board of Trustees last
September. He serves on the Board’s
academic affairs and development
committees.
A Troy University
alumnus, Latta graduated summa cum
laude in 1980, before earning his
juris doctorate at Samford
University’s Cumberland Law School
in 1983.
The Alabama
native is a partner in the law firm
Bowron, Latta & Wasden, P.C., where
he practices primarily in the areas
of business torts, complex insurance
claims, product liability and
appellate litigation.
A member of the
American Bar Association and the
Alabama State Bar, Latta serves on
the Alabama Supreme Court Standing
Committee on Alabama Rules of
Appellate Procedure, the Defense
Research Institute, the Federation
of Defense and Corporate Counsel,
the Product Liability Advisory
Council and the Alabama Defense
Lawyers Association.
Latta has written
extensively on legal issues and has
published articles for the Alabama
Defense Lawyers Association, Alabama
Law Review, Alabama State Bar,
Cumberland Law Review, Defense
Research Institute and Washington
Legal Foundation.
Prior to his
career in law, Latta was an award
winning broadcast journalist
recognized by the Associated Press.
