Troy University and the Wiregrass Math & Science Consortium Celebrate Space Exploration

Photos by:  Inga Oberst/Troy University

During Aerospace Day at Troy University, Fifth Grade Teacher Rebecca Powell of Red Level displays an autographed photo of Jim Voss, as the former NASA astronaut signs photos in the background. Voss completed five missions and spent 201 days in space. Aerospace Day is designed to inspire educators. Each year, the Wiregrass Math & Science Consortium hosts the event on the Dothan Campus.

Space Historian Jim Hansen signs a copy of his book, First Man:  The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, for Science Teacher Judy Mabry of Rehobeth High School. Hansen’s international best seller is the only authorized Armstrong biography. The event was part of the Wiregrass Math & Science Consortium’s annual Aerospace Day at Troy University.

During the Senior World Night of Space at Troy University, former NASA Astronaut Jim Voss (center) and Best Selling Author Jim Hansen (right) visit with Senior World members Audrey Luke and Larry Register of Dothan. Register is a former Dothan mayor and state senator. The event was held in conjunction with Aerospace Day, which is sponsored by the Wiregrass Math & Science Consortium.
