Bob Willis named interim administrator for Troy University, Dothan Campus
The announcement was made known internally to Dothan Campus faculty and staff on Friday afternoon via a memorandum sent by the Chancellor’s office. “We are fortunate to have Mr. Bob Willis’ leadership as interim vice-chancellor. He will serve until a permanent vice-chancellor is named and is not a candidate for the position,” Dr. Hawkins stated in the memorandum. The campus vice chancellor is a new position and title for the top administrative posts on the Dothan, Montgomery and Phenix City campuses. The new position was created under the system unification plan announced by the board of trustees and university officials in April 2003. It replaces the university president position on the Dothan and Montgomery campuses. Dr. Hawkins noted that the search process for a permanent successor to Barbara Alford, who is retiring at the end of December, is currently under way with interviews expected to take place during January. In his role as interim campus vice-chancellor, Willis will oversee TROY-Dothan’s six divisions which include Grounds, Physical Plant, Information Technology, Library Services, Financial Affairs and Student and Community Services. Willis has been employed at Troy University since 1991. During his tenure at TROY- Dothan, he has served as student support services project counselor, director of admissions, director of enrollment management and director of Student and Community Services. In May, Willis was named Dean of Student Services for the Dothan Campus. A native of Dothan, Willis holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology and master’s degrees in personnel management and counseling and human development. Willis earned his graduate degrees at TROY. “I appreciate the confidence that Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Roach (Troy University executive vice-chancellor/provost) have in me,” Willis said Friday afternoon. “I will continue to maintain a high level of service for all of our students, staff and faculty.” -30- |
