The Troy University Alumni Association – Dothan Chapter presented a total of more than 10-thousand dollars in scholarships to seven deserving students during a recent ceremony on the Dothan Campus. The Alumni Association Scholarship Committee chose the recipients of the $1,500 awards based on academic achievement, leadership skills and community and school involvement.

This year’s recipients include Rhonda Fitch of Enterprise, Ashlee Henderson of Echo, Angela Nelson Lingo of Abbeville, Terri Money of Headland, Julie Morris of Dothan and Pamela Scott of Eufaula. Aaron Wade of Enterprise received special recognition as the Alumni Association CenturyTel Scholarship winner.

“I’m just really excited and thankful to the Alumni Association for considering me worthy of this,” said recipient Rhonda Fitch.

Alumni Association President Doug Wynn said the scholarships are aimed at helping the students become productive citizens who contribute to the community. “This is the proudest day of the year for the Alumni Association,” remarked Wynn. “I’ve never felt so good about giving away so much money.”

Suzanne Davis, of Jackson Thornton, was on-hand to help present the awards. Jackson Thornton is the lead corporate sponsor of the Troy University Alumni Association – Dothan Chapter Jackson Thornton Invitational Golf Tournament, which helps raise the majority of the funding for the scholarships. This year’s golf tournament will be held September 29 at Highland Oaks.
