Welcome to the Chemistry Program at the Dothan Campus!

If you are considering an exciting career in science, let the Dothan Campus help you discover a future of opportunities. Our highly-trained faculty can prepare you for a career as an industrial bench chemist, technical manager, researcher or educator. Our students may also advance to graduate or professional school to become doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists and dentists.

Troy University developed the Chemistry Program on the Dothan Campus to meet the needs of area business and industry. We offer undergraduate majors and minors in Chemistry, as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemistry Education.

New, state-of-the-art science laboratories added in 2004 house the latest equipment for hands-on research. With advanced devices ranging from the gas and liquid chromatograph to the spectrophotometer and the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, students are able to explore, expand their horizons and prepare themselves for the future.

Chemistry Major
Angeline Ebuen

Angeline
When Troy University student Angeline Ebuen came to the Wiregrass with her family in 2004, she knew she wanted to continue her education in a science related field. Transferring from a university in Georgia, Angeline decided to enter the Chemistry program at the Dothan Campus. She was excited to learn such an avenue was available.

“When I looked at coming to school in Dothan, I was very happy to see they had started offering a major in chemistry,” she recalled. “I knew that the chemistry field is a big discipline where amazing things are created and discovered every day.” At the age of twenty-one, Angeline has also recently added a minor in Earth and Space Studies, and she hopes one day to perhaps become involved in the space program as a NASA chemist.  A self-described “military brat,” she hails from Vallejo, California, and is very excited about her academic future with Troy University.

“It is great to be part of a program that is fresh, fun and unique where there are so many possibilities open to you.  I like school work that is hands-on; and, while it is a lot of hard work, it is also very rewarding,” she noted. “I would certainly recommend the major to anyone with similar scientific interests, and I personally cannot wait to get going in those brand new state-of-the-art labs that were built recently on campus.”
